Where to Have Coffee in San Francisco

The Coffee Movement
The Coffee Movement is a specialty coffee bar located on the border of Nob Hill and Chinatown. It is just a block away from the San Francisco Cable Car Museum and if you enjoy your coffee in their outdoor space, you get to see trolleys full of tourists roll by every few minutes. The Coffee Movement offers multiple single origin filter coffees at a time, with rotating options.

Four Barrel Coffee
Four Barrel is an independent, locally owned coffee roastery. They directly source almost all of the coffee that they roast and serve in their café and affiliated cafes. They also serve pastries from neighborhood bakeries.

Dandelion Chocolate
Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Their factory has a large café in the front, but they also have locations on Valencia Street, in the Ferry Building, and on Fillmore Street. You can purchase their chocolate, pastries, and a variety of coffee drinks in all of their locations. I highly recommend their Hot Chocolate Mocha, made with their housemade chocolate and espresso.

Loquat
Loquat is the brainchild of two business partners from San Francisco’s Four Barrel Coffee and the Mill along with a former pastry chef from Tartine Bakery. The café serves baked goods inspired by the Jewish diaspora and Levantine flavors, as well as Four Barrel Coffee. Their babka is laminated to create flaky layers and is served as large loaves or mini individual rolls. When I visited, I had their Cardamom-ricotta Babka along with a latte and it was the perfect morning meal. The highlight, though, is their Chocolate Cake w/ Espresso Buttercream. The cake itself is super moist and the espresso buttercream is so creamy and luscious.

Philz
Philz is a chain coffeehouse based in San Francisco, specializing in pour over coffees with unique flavors. Everytime I visited DC, I made it a point to visit the Philz location there. My favorite drink is the Mint Mojito, served with Fresh Mint, and recommended to be sweet and creamy.

Réveille Coffee
Réveille Coffee started as a single Coffee Truck in Jackson Square and now has multiple cafes across the Bay Area. I had my favorite cup of coffee in SF at Réveille, it was just so silky and went down so smooth.
